Everyone has things that make them happy in life, and for me, food is one if them.  I have found that eating raw, natural, unprocessed foods helps me feel energized in mind, body, and spirit.

Kale
This leafy, green veggie is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. Kale is loaded with phytonutrients that help our brains and folate, a vitamin often used to treat depression. And Kale isn’t just for salads anymore. You can enjoy crispy kale chips, add it to a smoothie, or even bake it into brownies!
Seafood
Seafood is great brain food. It is loaded with omega-3 fats, essentials fats for many bodily functions. It also provides B-12, selenium, and DHEA, which are vital for a healthy, happy brain. Fish is a great main course item, but there are also many ways to integrate it into your diet in snacks and appetizers to diversify your palate.
Nuts
Nuts have a great reputation as heart-healthy sources of antioxidants and healthy fats. Research shows that just an ounce a day can improve physical and mental health. Almonds, pecans, and walnuts contain calcium, which can offset hormonal imbalances in women as well as alleviating symptoms of anxiety such as depression, irritability, and impaired memory. Nuts have also been linked to higher serotonin levels, which make you feel calmer and happier. No matter how you work them into your diet, you really can’t go wrong with nuts.
Beans
Beans are a versatile and affordable way to keep your healthy eating on track. Beans are laded with iron, a mineral that boosts your mood and energy levels. They’re also filled with phytonutrients, which ward off disease and help the body function properly. Beans are a rich source of antioxidants. A half cup of red beans has 1 1/2 times the antioxidants of a cup of blueberries. Whether you sprinkle them on your salad, eat them in a Mexican dish or make a dip, there are countless ways to enjoy beans.
Eggs
Eggs are no longer just a great way to start the day. Eggs deliver B-12, folate, protein and heart-healthy fat – all of which are critical in terms of brain function. Egg yolks are packed with carotenoids, which have been linked to optimism by recent Harvard studies. There are so many ways to enjoy eggs…scrambled, poached, in a smoothie, or over your favorite salad.
